Thomas Cook Group’s Harriet Green and IAG’s Willie Walsh have been selected as members of the British Chambers of Commerce’s newly-created International Advisory Board.
The two will work alongside other business leaders to advise the BCC on international trade issues, chaired by ex-Minister of State for Trade and Investment Lord Green of Hurstpierpoint.
The other council members include Ian Davis, chairman of Rolls Royce and Steve Varley, UK&I chairman and managing partner at Ernst & Young as well as others from Wrightbus, Claridon Group, Compass Group and Adnams.
Green said: “I am delighted to have been asked to join such a distinguished group of business people on its International Advisory Council to further develop BCC’s international trade strategy that is aiming for a step change on boosting UK exports.
“It is a genuine privilege, and a reflection of the continued relevance and importance of the Thomas Cook brand, that we can help play a part in driving growth in markets across the world. It is essential that all political parties are aware of the issues that affect our sector where international trade is concerned. While remaining fully committed to the ongoing transformation of our business, I look forward to representing not only our great company, but also the travel industry as a whole by taking this opportunity to make our voice heard at the very highest level.”
