Online travel deals comparison platform, TravelSupermarket, has revealed where the best bargains can be found for couples and friends looking for a beachside getaway this September and October.
According to data from its online platform, package holidays to Corfu, Bulgaria and the Costa Brava offer the best value for those travelling in the next couple of months.
Kavos in Corfu, Greece is the cheapest destination for two adults sharing, with a median price per night of GBP 39.29 (USD 51). Taking the second place is Lloret de Mar on the Costa Brava at GBP 42.80; followed by Sidari, Corfu (GBP 43.78); Varna, Bulgaria (GBP 48.71) and Malia, Greece (GBP 49.86).
“Providers are keen to keep prices as competitive as possible”
Emma Grimster, spokeswoman for TravelSupermarket, commented: “With the travel industry as a whole feeling the impact of the World Cup, as well as a hotter than average summer this year, providers are keen to keep prices as competitive as possible to help encourage post-peak season bookings.
“September and October are great months to go on holidays as resort crowds’ calm and climates remain very pleasant across many European resorts.”
When it comes to the most popular resorts in September and October 2018, the mainland of Spain and its islands took nine places in the top 20 list.
Lloret de Mar on the Costa Brava, Spain takes the top spot seeing a significant increase of 274% year on year. In addition, TravelSupermarket has also seen year on year increase in searches for couples’ holidays for areas of Croatia, the US, and Turkey.
“Mid-week prices are often the cheapest”
Grimster added: “If you’re looking for a last minute deal this September or October, there are plenty still available for around the GBP 200 mark. Try to be as flexible as you can on your departure date to find the best prices, mid-week prices are often the cheapest. If you are able to depart from more than one local airport, it is also worth comparing prices to see which option is cheapest – just don’t forget to factor in the cost of travelling to the airport, as well as parking if you decide to drive.”
