TripAdvisor has launched a new instant booking feature on its mobile app and mobile website.
The new tool allows travellers to make a hotel booking through TripAdvisor, without leaving the TripAdvisor site. Bookings will still be made via partner companies, but the user will appear to remain within the TripAdvisor site.
The company’s senior vice president of global product, Adam Medros, said the feature was designed to “remove friction” from the mobile booking process.
“Instant booking not only provides a more efficient hotel booking experience for travellers, but also benefits our hotel and online travel agency partners with the potential for more bookings and improved downstream conversion,” said Medros.
Instant booking is currently available in the US, with a gradual roll-out to additional markets expected later this year. TripAdvisor’s current instant booking launch partners include Choice Hotels, Getaroom.com and Tingo.
