TripAdvisor has redesigned its homepage with a greater focus on attractions, tours and activities.
In line with the revamp, the travel site has introduced a ‘Things to Do’ widget on the homepage, allowing users to book local activities alongside hotels, restaurants and flights. This also forms part of TripAdvisor’s new focus on enabling travel bookings, rather than simply research and reviews.
“We’re committed to improving the end-to-end planning, booking and in-destination travel experience for our users,” said Jeff Chow, TripAdvisor’s vice president of product & attractions.
“The tours and attractions industry has been making amazing progress in recent years, moving towards adopting the digital and mobile ways consumers book travel. Our goal is to accelerate this transition by delivering a world full of local travel experiences to our users, instantly bookable on a smartphone, tablet or desktop using TripAdvisor.”
TripAdvisor noted that, year-to-date, its attraction and tour have risen 150%, while its attractions listings expanded by 63% during the same period. Using the new widget, TripAdvisor users can enter their destination and find a range of local activities that can either be booked independently or added to a hotel or flight booking.
Additional features on the revamped website include more videos to showcase attractions and activities and improved search tools for points of interest.
