Thomson’s rebranding the Aphrodite Hills Resort has not yet been confirmed and was a ‘premature’ announcement, InterContinental Hotels Group (IHG) has said.
The hotel company has issued a statement regarding the Cyprus resort after Thomson announced on Saturday it will rebrand the resort under its Sensatori name ready for summer 2015.
Despite the announcement, IHG said talks are still in progress with TUI and no conclusive agreement has been reached.
A statement from IHG said: “As Aphrodite Hills Resort and TUI continue talks we wish to stress that no conclusive agreement has been reached, hence the reason that no official announcement has been made by either Aphrodite Hills or IHG to this respect.
“The mention of Aphrodite Hills in the TUI press release is in our opinion, premature. Our aim is that these discussions to be concluded within the next few weeks, during with TUI will not be able to offer this product for sale in their new summer brochure or the web.”
TUI’s summer 2015 programme will go on sale on 24 April, only nine days away.
The release from IHG continued: “In the meantime sales for the InterContinental Aphrodite Hills Resort Hotel continue to grow, with sales increasing year on year. Until these discussions are finally concluded the operation of the InterContinental Hotel will remain as normal throughout the year and will continue to serve the UK market with our worldwide renowned high standards, ensuring customer enjoy a unique and fantastic experience. For Aphrodite Hills Resort, it is business as usual.”
