TUI Cruises has ordered two more ships under the Mein Schiff name.
Mein Schiff 5 and 6 will be delivered in 2016 and 2017 to bring the cruise line’s total ship count to six.
The line, which is a joint venture between TUI AG and Royal Caribbean Cruises, introduced its third ship into its fleet in June and has a fourth in construction, in addition to these two newbuilds.
Each of the two new ships will have 1, 250 cabins with 82% featuring balconies.
The ships will predominantly serve the German cruise market but the orders reflect the continued growth in cruises for the European travel markets.
“TUI Cruises’ Mein Schiff fleet has set a new premium standard in the market and it won new target groups for cruise holidays,” said Friedrich Joussen, CEO of TUI AG. “The ships are booked to capacity and the company is growing, while TUI Cruises and its vessels are a pivotal pillar for our differentiation and growth strategy.”
