Turkish Airlines boost Birmingham flights

Turkish Airlines has increased its flights between Birmingham and Istanbul.
The airline now flies 10 times a week from the midlands airport and a giant model aircraft now hangs from the airport’s International Pier to mark the expansion.
“We are extremely proud of what we have achieved at Birmingham Airport since we began operating flights from here back in 2008. The demand has been incredibly strong from the very beginning, which is why we have decided to increase the number of flights between Birmingham and Istanbul from seven to ten flights per week,” said Selim Ozturk, general manager for Turkish Airlines at Birmingham.
The announcement comes after Birmingham Airport saw passenger growth of 9% in August year-on-year, with a record 1, 031, 259 people using its airport.
New routes and extra capacity have helped the airport boost numbers, with winter seeing new routes from easyJet to Belfast International; SAS’ new flights to Stockholm and Ryanair’s services to Milan and Krakow.
