Turkish Airlines has celebrated its successful UEFA EURO 2016 which culminated with Sunday’s exciting France-Portugal final being aired live on all of its flights.

The carrier was the first airline partner in the 55-year history of the European Football Championship, and launched a number of initiatives to excite fans throughout this summer’s tournament.

The carrier’s #EuropesBest campaign highlighted the best football fans from across the continent for UEFA EURO 2016. It included television commercials, unique plane liveries, ticket giveaways and a dedicated microsite.

Live matches were available to watch on Turkish Airlines planes and fans and tourists were able to enjoy striking branding across some of Paris’s most famous landmarks, including the Champs Elysees. Turkish Airlines ignited passion in Europe’s football fans by taking David Guetta’s UEFA EURO 201 anthem to the 24 competing nations.

Turkish Airlines also welcomed players on to the pitch with two hostesses present at all 51 matches of the competition.

İlker Aycı, Turkish Airlines’ chairman of the board and executive committee, commented: “Turkish Airlines congratulates UEFA and the French authorities on conducting such a successful event. This year’s European Football Championship has brought together fans from all over the world in celebration of the football spirit and we are glad to have been a part of this journey.”

Turkish Airlines takes a keen interest in global sport sponsoring events including European Professional Club Rugby, The Turkish Airlines Basketball Euroleague, the Turkish Airlines Open golf tournament and the world’s leading equestrian event, CHIO Aachen.
