Turkish Airlines has seen profits drop 29% in its first half results compared to last year.
The six months up to the end of July saw the carrier’s net profit come in at TL121 million (GBP38m, US459m) while its net operating profit is up by 192% to GBP140m.
Compared to the same six months last year, the airline carried 26% more passengers totalling 22.4 million, although it also attributed its profit decrease to currency rates and taxes.
The increase in demand against 20 new routes pushed its load factors up to 78.9%.
The airline now flies to 237 destinations in 103 countries with 232 aircraft although has orders for 15 Boeing aircraft.
A statement from the airline read: “Turkish Airlines continues to consolidate its successful position and strength, while increasing its product and service quality with the help of strong financial results.”
