Turkish Airlines will up its Manchester flights in May and June 2015

Turkish Airlines has announced an increase in flights between Manchester and Istanbul next summer.

The airline will add four flights a week from 25 May and an extra three per week from 22 June, which will result in a thrice-daily operation on the route.

Its new service will depart Manchester at 23.45 allowing connections to Eastern Europe and the Middle East that mean travellers will sometimes be able to reach cities by noon.

Its frequency rise has come after the carrier saw an 18% rise in passengers from Manchester in the first eight months of 2014.

Turkish Airlines’ general manager for Manchester Ersen Engin said: “In 2014, we saw our passenger numbers increase by 18% from January to August, compared to the same period in 2013. As Istanbul is a hot destination for long weekend breaks and extended summer holidays, Turkish Airlines will be increasing its weekly flight services from Manchester to Istanbul.”
