Two in five Singaporeans plan to travel: Finder’s Travel Index

Travel plans are on the rise in Singapore, according to Finder.com’s latest Travel Index. Two in five Singaporean adults (42%) plan to travel over the months of June, July, and August, up from 22% over the same period in 2021 – an increase of 20 percentage points.

This represents the biggest increase in the number of people planning to travel of the 12 countries included in the report, followed by India and Ireland. Domestic travel plans have grown the most, more than doubling year-on-year. Nearly a third of Singaporeans (30%) plan to travel domestically over the next three months, up from just 13% over the same period last year.

International travel plans have also grown, however the jump isn’t quite as significant. 19% of Singaporeans plan to jet abroad over the next three months, up from 11% last year.

Finder.com’s Angus Kidman, says we may see more people traveling internationally over the next year. “Overseas travel is more exciting, but it’s also typically more expensive and tedious to plan than traveling domestically. Add in that travel guidelines and restrictions were ever-changing over the past few years, it’s no surprise that international travel is making a slower comeback. But with countries now easing their in-bound travel restrictions, it’s very likely we’ll continue to see Singaporeans increasingly interested in international travel in the coming months.”

Finder’s report also reveals that Singaporean men are almost twice more likely to have travel plans than women – with 50% of men planning to travel over the next three months compared to 30% of women.
