The General Civil Aviation Authority (GCAA) in UAE recently signed the initial air transport services agreement and a memorandum of understanding (MoU) with Civil Aviation Authority of the Republic of South Sudan, as reported by WAM.

The agreement was signed with the aim to strengthen bilateral aviation relations between two countries. This signing was done in the presence of Saif Mohammed Al Suwaidi, director-general of GCAA and Eng Wendy Adi Kenny, director-general of the Civil Aviation Authority of the Republic of South Sudan.

Al Suwaidi said the UAE is the first country in the Middle East to sign an open space agreement with Republic of South Sudan to cope with increasing growth in air traffic. This would be in terms of movement of passengers and goods between two countries. Such agreements contribute to development of cooperation and promotion of economic relations between UAE and other countries worldwide.”

He futher added, “It is the UAE’s strategy to contribute to explore investment opportunities and promote trade exchange.”
