The campaign reported a 14% annual growth rate, the highest in Southeast Asia. The marketing campaign, developed
by Tourism Secretary Joseph Durano, aims to boost foreign interest in the region, with the goal of welcoming five-million foreign tourists to the country by 2010. “Efforts are already being set in place to accommodate the increase in arrivals,” Durano told reporters. There are plans to build 20,000 hotel rooms and two new airports in Central Philippines, according to Inquirer news.
