Design revealed for Nobu Hotel Caesars Palace
Designs have been unveiled for the first Nobu Hotel which will open in Las Vegas this year. The 181-room hotel will have a Japanese feel with wood tiles used throughout and cherry blossom themed hallways. Bookings for the hotel will open on 1 October.
“We have created a distinctly Japanese experience in the heart of Las Vegas with the first Nobu Hotel, but with a playful interpretation of Nobu’s style and the Vegas bravado,” said David Rockwell, founder and CEO of Rockwell Group, which helped design the property. “Using the grand canvas of a hotel, we were able to elaborate on the use of hand-crafted, curated materials that create a luxurious effect and provide a world-class Nobu experience”.
Rockwell, Nobu Hospitality, Chef Nobu Matsuhisa, Robert De Niro, Meir Teper and Caesars Palace were amongst those that gathered in New York to reveal the designs and revealed more Nobu hotels could be opened in the future. “We are thrilled to be working with Caesars Entertainment as our strategic partner on the first Nobu Hotel which we are creating together adding a further lifestyle luxury offering to the well-established Caesars Palace destination. We are looking forward to expanding on this relationship further with additional international projects,” said Trevor Horwell, CEO of Nobu Hospitality.

Loews Hotels & Resorts has purchased the Renaissance Hollywood Hotel, California. The 20-storey hotel is to now undergo a £16.7 million renovation which will continue to see Wolfgang Puck Catering operate and cater its ballroom in the Hollywood & Highland Center complex (home to shops, restaurants, bars, nightclubs, a cinema, bowling lanes and the Academy Awards venue Dolby Theatre).
“We continually look to enhance our unique local guest experiences through our style of comfortable luxury and genuine service combined with properties in the best locations,” said Jonathan Tisch, chairman of Loews Hotels & Resorts. “The Loews Hollywood Hotel embodies the essence of Los Angeles and the addition of our signature services and upgraded amenities will match the energy and vibrant culture of Hollywood”.
Vegas airport prepares extension opening, becomes first Pride tourist partner
Las Vegas’ McCarran International Airport is to open its £1.5bn terminal expansion next week to facilitate more visitors into the city. Terminal 3 will ease congestion at other parts of the airport as it prepares for British Airways’ new Gatwick service in October and a projected growth in visitors. Last year the number of UK tourists heading to the city was up 8.6% to 418,000. “The UK continues to be the largest overseas market to Las Vegas and the opening of new Terminal 3 at McCarran airport recognises the importance of the international market on the future growth of the destination,” said Russell Meara, sales and marketing director for the Las Vegas Convention and Visitors Authority in the UK. “UK travellers will now also have a state-of-the-art arrival and departure experience”. The terminal will open on 27 June.
Meanwhile, Las Vegas has been named as the first destination partner of WorldPride, with Pride London kicking off in London at the weekend. The destination hopes the sponsorship will increase awareness of both its LGBT offering and the city itself.
