Air connectivity within the Indian state of Uttar Pradesh will be enhanced in the coming months, after aviation authorities gave the green light for the launch of new regional services from the state capital, Lucknow.
The Economic Times reports that India’s Directorate General of Civil Aviation (DGCA) and Airport Authority of India (AAI) have both approved the launch of new intra-state flights by North-East Shuttle, which is now expected to commence the flights in April.
The airline will operate services connecting Lucknow with other key cities, including Agra, the home of the Taj Mahal, and Varanasi, an ancient city on the Ganges River.
Other destinations under consideration include Allahabad, Meerut, Moradadbad, Gorakhpur, Chitrakoot and Sonebhadra, the Economic Times said.
Home to approximately 200 million people, Uttar Pradesh is India’s most populous state.
