Vietnamese low-cost carrier VietJet Air has continued its rapid expansion with the addition of another new aircraft.
The airline, which only launched in December 2011, has taken delivery of its 11th Airbus A320 aircraft, just in time for the Lunar New Year, or Tet, holidays. The extra single-aisle jet will allow VietJet to add 10,000 more seats per week to its domestic network during the peak travel period.
“By adding more aircraft to the fleet, VietJet Air will better serve its customers. Customers now have more options to schedule for returning homes or travelling with their beloved people during the holiday. The increase in the fleet is also among our attempts to expand our operations this year,” said Desmond Lin, VietJet’s business development director.
Like all of VietJet’s fleet, the new A320 comes configured with 180 seats in a single-class layout.
Currently, the airline operates 16 domestic and international routes, but over the next few months it plans to expand to new destinations in Vietnam, South Korea, Japan, Taiwan and Singapore.
