Vietnam Airlines touched down at London’s Heathrow Airport for the first time last week.
The airline had previously flown to and from the UK capital’s Gatwick Airport, but will now operate from Heathrow’s Terminal 4, alongside its fellow SkyTeam alliance members.

“Vietnam Airlines’ move to Heathrow… is good news for Britain as it secures a direct route to an important growth economy, with more frequent flights and greater cargo capacity,” said Heathrow’s CEO, John Holland-Kaye.

“As a strategic national asset, only Heathrow can connect all of the UK’s nations and regions to global markets and make it easier for Britain’s exporters to win business and attract investment.”

Vietnam Airlines’ Heathrow flights will initially operate four times a week, with two weekly services from Hanoi and two from Ho Chi Minh City.

But this will increase to five or six flights per week following the deployment of the airline’s brand new Boeing 787-9 Dreamliner aircraft on its London routes, before increasing to a daily service for summer 2016.
