Vietnam Airlines‘ first new Airbus A350 aircraft has completed its first test flight.
The new long-haul aircraft took to the skies above southern France this week, bearing the airline’s revamped blue, gold and white livery. The aircraft will now enter the final phase of production, including the fitting of its interior cabins, before being delivered to Vietnam Airlines later this year.
Vietnam Airlines will become the first Asian airline to fly the A350 and only the second operator in the world, after Qatar Airways. In total, the airline will acquire 14 A350s, the first of which will fly between Hanoi and Paris.
The new aircraft form part of Vietnam Airlines’ fleet long-haul renewal plan, which will also include the addition of 19 new Boeing 787 Dreamliners.
The A350s will be configured with 305 seats in a three-class layout, while the B787s will offer either 274 seats in a three-class configuration or 311 seats in a two-class layout.
