Vietnam Airlines to promote former capital

Vietnam Airlines has penned a new agreement to promote the historic central city of Hue.
The deal with the Thua Thien-Hue provincial government, which was signed on 11 August, will see the two parties work on joint promotional activities for Hue, which served as the capital of Vietnam until 1945 under the Nguyen dynasty.
In addition, press and travel trade fam trips will be organised, bringing reporters and agents to the city from Europe, Northeast Asia and Oceania, and joint promotions will be undertaken at international travel fairs.
Vietnam Airlines also said that it would consider increasing the frequency of its flights to Hue, and even opening new routes to the city, although details of these are yet to be confirmed. The national carrier currently connects the city with several daily direct flights from Hanoi and Ho Chi Minh City.
The centre of Hue is home to a collection of UNESCO World Heritage sites based in the ancient citadel (pictured). These include Tu Cam Thanh, the Forbidden Purple City.
