Virgin Australia has started offering business class seats on flights to New Zealand.
The new cabin was unveiled on 28 February 2015 on the airline’s Sydney–Auckland route. All other trans-Tasman services will be upgraded from 31 March.
A progressive refit of 10 of the airline’s Boeing 737 fleet is currently underway, adding the new leather business class seats in a 2-2 configuration. The seats have a pitch of 38 inches (96.5cm), and passengers in the front cabin will also be offered special menus, priority check-in, boarding and baggage services, amenity kits and newspapers.
“With Virgin Australia’s renowned business class making its inaugural flight across the Tasman tomorrow, this is a significant milestone for Virgin Australia,” said Virgin Australia’s chief commercial officer, Judith Crompton.
“The Trans-Tasman and Pacific Island routes remain a very strong focus for us and importantly, customers travelling in these markets now have more choice when it comes to business and premium leisure travel.”
Virgin Australia operates its trans-Tasman services in a joint venture with Air New Zealand.
