Richard Branson’s Virgin Galactic has passed another technical milestone as the spaceship successfully flew 69,000 feet.
The world’s first commercial space plane, which hopes to be taking paying passengers in around about a year, will eventually be hitting heights five times higher – at around 70 miles above the earth.
Passengers, who will pay GBP160,000 for the experience, will be able to see 1,000 miles in every direction and will be weightless for five minutes.
“It does seem expensive right now but it’s the equivalent of a first class airline ticket in the early days of aviation,” said a Virgin Galactic spokesperson.
