Visit California is looking at tapping more visitors from the South India market.
The tourism board conducted educational seminars in Bengaluru and Chennai on 24-25 October 2013 with over 250 travel agents attending the seminar. The training topics incorporated the five brand pillar experiences of California – luxury, culinary, adventure, family and culture.
California had a projected 208,000 visitors from India in 2012, up 7% over 2011. This growth outpaced the 3% growth rate projected for overseas visits to California. Since 2002, the number of Indian visitors to California has risen by 139%.
