Russia’s Vladivostok Air has commenced operations on its new twice-weekly service between Singapore and Vladivostok via Hong Kong, with the inaugural flight touching down in the Lion State on Friday.
The Russian carrier will operate an Airbus A320 aircraft in a two-class configuration on this route. The service will depart Vladivostok International Airport on Tuesday and Friday mornings and arrive in Changi Airport at 6.20pm on the same day. The return flight will depart Changi at 8.10pm and arrive in Vladivostok the following morning.
The eastern city of Vladivostok becomes the ninth new city this year to join airline service networks operating from Singapore’s Changi Airport. Business and leisure traffic is growing quickly between the two countries. Passenger movements between Singapore and Russia reached an all-time-high of 65,000 in 2010, representing 31% year on year growth. 2011 has witnessed even faster growth with passenger traffic up 34% in the first eight months of the year. Many of these visitors are twinning visits to Singapore with other Southeast Asian destinations for a city experiences and a beach getaway.
“Vladivostok Air’s entry into the Singapore market is therefore timely to serve the growing demand of Russian travellers wanting to explore Singapore and other parts of Southeast Asia,” said Yam Kum Weng, Changi Airport Group’s Executive Vice President for Air Hub Development.
