The number of Visa-on-Arrival (VoA) tourists increased 22.9% in June 2013, as compared to June 2012.

India’s Visa-on-Arrival scheme saw 23% increase in June 2013

Last month, India issued a total of 1,062 VoAs, as against 864 in June 2012. Japanese nationals were among the highest to avail this service, with 275 citizens in June 2013. Citizens from other countries that availed this service are Indonesia (208), Philippines (171), New Zealand (171), Singapore (152), Finland (44), Myanmar (15), Vietnam (14), Laos (5), Cambodia (4) and Luxembourg (3).

From January to June 2013, a total of 9,328 VoAs were issued as compared to 6,721 VoAs during the corresponding period of 2012, thus registering a growth of 38.8%. Delhi airport issued maximum VoAs to 5,362 passengers, followed by Mumbai (1,970), Chennai (1,369) and Kolkata (627).
