Tourism in Wales is to be promoted in the USA due to a VisitBritain strategy with accommodation provider Welsh Rarebits.
The two will be working together as part of the ‘GREAT’ Britain campaign which will include joint marketing at New York’s Bloomingdales department store.
The mall now has a British-themed window display with Union Jack carpets, while packages and brochures including Wales will be distributed through the store and through a Bloomingdales microsite.
Its campaign will be promoting a week-long itinerary in Wales staying at Bodysgallen Hall and Plas Rhianfa.
“We have been working with Visit Britain, who have realised that the best way to encourage US visitors to come to Wales, is to focus on the huge choice of high quality places to stay and to feature Wales as part of UK-wide itineraries,” said Sioned Williams from Welsh Rarebits. “We also anticipate that interest in Wales will increase dramatically in 2014, with all the events that will be taking place to celebrate the 100th anniversary of Dylan Thomas.”
