A new tourism strategy to boost visitors to Wales by 10% has been launched by the Welsh Government.

Its five-pronged focus was devised from talks with residents and businesses in the country and will focus on promotion, product development and its people as well as luxury and branded hotels, wellbeing facilities, historic hotels and buildings, year-round attractions and other cultural options.

It will primarily focus on the UK domestic market but will also target Ireland, the US and Germany.

‘This strategy is the beginning of a new direction for tourism in Wales that will support growth in the sector during the coming years. We want to work more closely with partners in Wales and the travel trade to develop our offering and ultimately increase visitor spend to Wales,” said Dr Manon Williams, chief executive of tourism and marketing at Visit Wales.
