Wallace & Gromit will once again appear in a series of adverts to promote holidays in the UK.

The pair will be in the third pan-UK ‘Holidays at Home are GREAT’ campaign that will run from mid-March led by VisitEngland with support from Scotland, Northern Ireland and Wales.

It will continue to encourage customers to book domestic break through travel agents, with partners signed up including Bourne Leisure, Hoseasons and Shearings.

VisitEngland also has plans for a spring promotion which will focus on romance, cities, the outdoors, the seaside, coastal holidays and countryside.

The latest marketing push will be the second in VisitEngland’s three-year Growing Tourism Locally scheme.

A separate GBP2 million fund will be used to help promote destinations affected by the floods, as announced by the government last week.

“There is some really exciting activity planned this spring to inspire people to make the most of the wonderful destinations, right on their doorstep. The first year themed campaigns have delivered fantastic results, providing a welcome boost to the domestic tourism economy and creating jobs for the sector, and the next raft of themed campaigns will continue to generate growth by promoting the wonderful holiday experiences on offer in England,” said James Berresford, chief executive of VisitEngland.
