Singapore-based travel search website Wego.com is entering the Indian market. The company has set up an office in Bengaluru with 10 employees and plans to launch the Indian version of the site, wego.co.in, by the end of this month. Wego also plans to tie up with all major travel portals like makemytrip.com, yatra.com and via.com to enable comprehensive meta searches for Indian consumers.
“In the next 18 months we want Wego to become a household name. We will start by targeting mainly the online crowd and spread through word of mouth. Our core strategy is to build a dominant market,” Ross Veitch, co-founder and Chief Executive Officer of Wego.com said. The company will offer meta search for flights, hotels, travel packages and deals from over 150 travel websites.
In 2012, the company merged with HolidayIQ.com, an Indian travel content and community site. Besides setting up Indian operations, the company also plans to expand into the Dubai market.
