Winners of LATA Achievement Awards revealed

The Latin American Travel Association (LATA) has announced the winners of the LATA Achievement Awards.
Now in its 6th year, the LATA Achievement Awards recognise individuals and/or companies who have made an exceptional contribution to the development of Latin America tourism.
Voted for by the LATA membership, the LATA Achievement Awards celebrate and reward initiatives and efforts made by the tourism industry to bring the Latin American region closer to the UK.
The awards were announced at the closing party of Latin American B2B event Experience Latin America last night, in front of an audience of key Latin America suppliers and buyers from the UK, Europe and Latin America.
The winners and runners-up of the awards are detailed below:
Sustainable & Responsible Tourism Award
Winner: Quinn Meyer, Crees was awarded for his dedication to sustainable tourism seen in his work with volunteer programmes that protect the biodiversity of Manu in the Peruvian Amazon.
Runner-up: Los Potreros was awarded for its constant dedication to sustainability by generating its own electricity, producing its own food and following a zero food waste policy.
Customer Service Award
Winner: Explore was awarded for excellence in customer care.
Runner-up: Coltur was awarded for going above and beyond in terms of fast response time, innovative thinking and alerting clients to any issues on the ground.
Innovation & Creativity Award
Winner: British Airways was awarded for introducing two new direct routes from London into Latin America and for the upcoming third direct service to Chile that will be launched in January 2017.
Runner-up: Ecoventura was awarded for the launch of new luxury eco vessel MV origin.
Promotional & Marketing Success Award
Winner: Latin Routes was awarded for its innovative website, informative brochure with new destination and faultless attendance to travel shows.
Runner-up: Air Europa was awarded for the arrival of new 787 Dreamliner aircrafts, the new business class, the introduction of on-board wi-fi and a new frequent flyer programme
Byron Shirto chairman of LATA said: “LATA is delighted with the outcome of this year’s Achievement Awards. 2016 has been an outstanding year for tourism to and around Latin American with new flights and innovative tourism projects opening up the region to tourists from the UK. This has partly been thanks to these companies and teams that have helped drive tourism to the region forwards”.
