The inaugural WTM Connect Asia event will take place next month, and organiser Reed Exhibitions has confirmed that it has now secured the attendance of a series of leading Chinese travel buyers, including Ctrip.
Through its hosted buyers programme, WTM Connect Asia has invited a number of major outbound Chinese leisure travel buyers to attend the Penang event and participate in pre-scheduled one-on-one appointments with travel suppliers from across Southeast Asia.
Along with Ctrip, Beijing Luxtrip, Mudianjiang Youth International Travel Agency, Beijing Huantao, GZL International Travel Serviced, Chongqing Guangda International Travel, China Chongqing Holiday International Travel Service, and 6renyou Trip have all confirmed their attendance.
“WTM has a good reputation in China. I believe WTM Connect Asia will provide new opportunities for my company to develop in new markets and source new products. I’m looking forward to the business appointments and education sessions,” said Iris Lu, Ctrip’s senior operations manager.
In addition to the Chinese hosted buyers, WTM Connect Asia will feature a series of buyers from other countries, including Interpark, Cathay Pacific Holidays, APT, Gate 1 Travel, Privia Travel, Pacific Leisure Group, and CBS Travel Asia. They will meet with a line-up of exhibitors, including Missing Italia, Incotour Group, JTB Global, Cox & Kings, Helidubai, Olympia Europe, Travallanda, Let’s Travel, C Hotels, Tourico and Kaimoo Travels.
WTM Connect Asia is due to take place from 18-20 May 2016 on the Malaysian island of Penang. It is being supported by Malaysia’s Ministry of Tourism & Culture, Tourism Malaysia and Penang Tourism.
The Penang event will be followed by the inaugural WTM Connect China event, which will take place in Sanya from 23-25 May.
