World Travel Market Latin America kicks off today for three days of meetings and networking.
The show is being held alongside the 41st edition of Braztoa in Sao Paulo’s Transamerica Expo Center and expected to host thousands until Friday.
The trade show has more than 1,200 exhibitors crossing various sectors of the travel industry including tourism boards, attractions and hotels.
Accor, Marriott, Hilton, Chic Outlet Shopping, Bloomingdale’s, Tourism Australia, Atout France and Europcar are among the exhibitors, while Greece is the sponsoring country.
More than 50 of the exhibitors are new to the event this year, which also includes a conference programme.
“This great demand on the part of exhibitors and sponsors reflects the importance of WTM Latin America to the tourism sector in the region, which is developing in leaps and bounds despite the world financial crisis, which affected the economic development of countries around the world as a whole,” said Lawrence Reinisch, director of WTM Latin America.
An Innovation Zone has also been set up at the show where visitors will be able to try Google Glass and interact with new technology.
