Wyndham Hotel Group has continued to expand its portfolio in China with the opening of its first upscale Wyndham-branded property in the beach resort of Sanya.
The new Wyndham Sanya Bay is set on within the Leaguer Moho Plaza, 5km from Sanya’s Phoenix International Airport. It offers 401 rooms and 29 suites across 15 floors, all featuring balconies with sea views.
Facilities at the hotel include two restaurants, a spa, large swimming pool, hot spring area, fitness centre, business centre and a 500m² children’s club including an indoor play area and outdoor water park.
There is also extensive function space including four meeting rooms and a 1,000m² ballroom.
“Sanya has become one of China’s most dynamic tourism spots, hitting tourism revenues of more than CNY11 billion (US$1.7bn) in the first quarter of this year and being ranked among the top domestic destinations in the country during this year’s Golden Week, making this a vital time for us to be present in the market with our upscale Wyndham brand,” said Leo Liu, Wyndham Hotel Group’s president & managing director for Greater China.
“We’ve successfully added five Wyndham properties to our portfolio so far this year and we foresee double-digit growth in openings next year. The opening of Wyndham Sanya Bay adds to the promising foundation we’re laying for the Wyndham brand’s future expansion into top tourist and commercial cities.”
Wyndham recently reached the milestone of opening its 1,000th hotel in China. Already this year it has added new Wyndham-branded properties in Shenzhen, Qingdao, Maoming and Urumqi, taking the upscale brand’s nationwide portfolio to 19 hotels.
