Novotel has announced it is to put Xbox 360s in its rooms as part of a trial scheme with Microsoft.
The brand’s hotels in London Paddington, Munich, Warsaw, Milan Linate, Monaco and Geneve Centre will feature the games consoles later this year to “recreate a family environment, providing a cocoon that feels just like home where guests can relax, play and have fun”. As well as games the consoles can be used as a DVD player and to access other content.
“With Xbox consoles in its rooms, Novotel confirms its ability to break with traditional hotel codes by creating modern, comfortable, connected spaces where guests can relax and play. The hotel is no longer a place where guests just want to sleep, it becomes a place where they want to enjoy a memorable experience,” said Christine Ravanat, SVP global marketing for Novotel.
Its in-room scheme stems from a six-year partnership between the two, which started with Xbox 360s displayed in its Kids corners five years ago. The hotel chain also includes the Kinect service in its meeting rooms with one in France also including several Windows tablets, phones and touch tables.
“To date, no other hotel chain has offered a service of this kind in Europe,” said Marc Jalabert, director general public and operators at Microsoft France.
