Xiamen Airlines has applied for permission to launch direct flights to Seattle.
According to a statement on the website of the Civil Aviation Administration of China (CAAC), the fast-expanding airline is planning to launch four weekly flights from Xiamen to Seattle, via Shenzhen. If approved, the flights will commence in June 2016.
The Fujian-based carrier plans to deploy either its existing 237-seat, two-class Boeing 787-8 Dreamliner on the route, or its larger B787-9, the first of which is expected be delivered later this year.
Xiamen Airlines has also applied to the CAAC for permission to launch Xiamen-Vancouver and Fuzhou-New York routes in July 2016 and January 2017 respectively.
Last year, Xiamen Airlines launched its first ever long-haul services to Amsterdam and Sydney, but these new trans-Pacific routes services would mark the carrier’s first ever flights to North America.
