Newly-appointed Railway Minister, Mukul Roy has announced a roll back of the increase of some of the rail fare hikes that were announced in the Rail Budget last week. The fare for first and second class passengers in air-conditioned carriages would still go up; however there will be no increase for other classes of travel.
“The proposal to increase fares will impact the common man. I intend to give relief by not increasing fares in any of these classes.” Roy said yesterday.
