Pentahotels, the select service brand from Hong Kong-based New World Hospitality, has unveiled plans to boosts its global portfolio to 80 locations by 2020, including significant expansion in Asia.
The brand currently operates two hotels in Asia, with a new Beijing property recently joining the brand’s existing Shanghai hotel. The 307-room pentahotel Beijing debuted in the Chinese capital’s Dong Cheng district this month and includes a range of loft-style rooms. The hotel also features the brand’s signature lobby concept, which is designed as a multi-purpose lounge area with free Wi-Fi, F&B outlets and an internet corner.
Following the two Chinese hotel, pentahotels is planning to double its Asian portfolio with two more hotels in China opening by 2014. These are the 197-room pentahotel Guiyang, opening in 2013, and the 390-room pentahotel Shenyang, which will follow a year later.
The brand also operates 13 properties in Europe.
“We see tremendous potential for pentahotels in Asia,” said Sonia Cheng, Chief Executive Officer of New World Hospitality. “Pentahotels aims to keep road warriors grounded while on the go with distinctive design, a mix of fun with functionality, comfort with creativity, and style with simplicity.”
The company said that future pentahotel locations will include urban centres, convention and exhibition complexes, airports and rail stations. “Anywhere young-spirited travellers do business or have fun, where they want to feel connected, yet forego fluff, fuss and five-star hotel prices,” Ms Cheng said.
