Construction has commenced on a new budget hotel in the Indonesian city of Bandar Lampung.

The POP! Hotel Lampung will be Jakarta-based Tauzia Hotel Management’s first property in the Sumatra city, and will feature 168 rooms as well as meeting facilities.

“POP! Hotel Lampung, our first budget hotel in Sumatra, will cater to the smart travellers in the growing city of Lampung,” said Marc Steinmeyer, Tauzia’s President Director. “We believe the budget hotel concept will be well accepted and we will expand to other cities in Sumatra.”

Tauzia expects its POP! portfolio to expand to 28 properties by the beginning of 2014. Two properties have already opened in Denpasar and Bandung, as these will be joined by a further nine in Bali, eight in Jakarta, two in Yogyakarta, two in Surabaya, and one each on Solo, Semarang, Bandar Lampung, Balikpapan and Makassar.
