Swimming pools and water activities are the most important part of a family holiday, according to a new Blue Paper from Hilton.
In its new ‘Resort Travel Trends: What Families Want’ report, the hotel chain found that children were more fussed about the pool than anything else, with parents looking for spacious or adjoining rooms and a variety of dining options when choosing a hotel.
Mums still lead the holiday researching and booking with kids clubs a “highly valued amenity” to ensure parents still have ‘me’ time. Amongst its UK respondents the top ‘must haves’ were a kid-friendly pool, half-day kids clubs and full-day kids clubs.
Orlando, Disneyland Paris, Italy, Mallorca and Dubai were the top destinations that parents wanted to travel to, with more than 90% of parents interested in all-inclusive resorts. The results were gathered by a survey of 1,200 parents and subsequent focus groups with both parents and children.
“This new research offers a timely perspective on what today’s families seek in resort holidays,” said Dave Horton, global head, Hilton Hotels & Resorts. “Of particular note, the report’s leading resort holiday considerations of pools and food for everyone are key touch points for our 75 resorts that all offer at least two pools or a pool and a beach and a minimum of two restaurants along with waterfront food and beverage services”.
