Garuda expands onboard immigration to China
Garuda Indonesia has expanded its ‘Immigration on Board’ service to the Shanghai–Jakarta route.
Effective this month, the new service will enable Chinese passengers on flights from Shanghai’s Pudong International Airport to complete visa-on-arrival processes prior to arrival at Jakarta’s Soekharno-Hatta International Airport. Immigration officers will be placed onboard the Garuda flights to assist passengers with the procedure, thus saving time on arrival in Indonesia.
“The launching of ‘Immigration on Board’ will hopefully ensure passengers from Shanghai have a pleasant travel experience when visiting Jakarta and other cities in Indonesia. Shanghai is one of the destinations that have a huge market potential for Garuda Indonesia,” said Garuda’s Director of Service, Faik Fhmi.
The in-flight immigration service has already been introduced in six routes: Tokyo Narita–Jakarta, Seoul–Jakarta, Sydney–Jakarta, Tokyo Narita–Denpasar, Osaka–Denpasar and Sydney–Denpasar, but this marks its launch in the Chinese market.
To use the service, passengers from Shanghai must first purchase a visa-on-arrival voucher at Garuda’s check-in counters at Pudong airport.
