Qantas has teamed up with Disney to host the premiere of its latest animated movie, Planes, at 30,000ft.
Taking place on 7 September 2013, the premiere will see the movie screened on a Qantas Boeing 767 aircraft, to an expected audience of 254 passengers. To mark the tie-up, Qantas will be painting one of its aircraft with a special ‘Planes’ livery.
“Qantas is excited to be hosting a movie premiere in the sky,” said the airline’s group executive for brand, marketing & corporate affairs, Olivia Wirth. “We’re thrilled to have an Australian plane in this Disney movie, who will definitely appeal to our young passengers. We’ll be working with Disney on lots of activities around the film,” she added.
This marks the latest airline tie-up for Disney, in relation to the movie. Qantas’ oneworld alliance partner American Airlines has already agreed to be part of the movie, adorning one of the animated characters with its new livery, and hosting a series of promotional events in the US.
Disney’s Planes will be released in cinemas for in September.
