Cruise Britain chair Kate O’Hara will lead the launch of London’s cruise terminal as it gears up for a 2016 opening.
O’Hara has been named CEO of the terminal as part of Enderby Riverside Limited, a company owned and fund-managed by Morgan Stanley Real Estate Investing and West Properties.
The terminal was given planning permission last year and will be known as London Cruise Port. It will be able to accommodate large cruise vessels, which will travel past the Thames barrier, Emirates cable car, the O2 and Canary Wharf before mooring in Greenwich.
It will be used for both transit and turnaround cruises from the start of the 2016 cruise season.
“I am hugely excited by the opportunity to become involved in such a prestigious and innovative project within the heart of London and Royal Greenwich. The views from the new terminal location are exceptional and I am sure cruise passengers will be thrilled at being able to sail into the heart of the capital,” said O’Hara.
O’Hara already has experience in developing the cruise industry in Britain as chair of Cruise Britain. A joint initiative by CLIA UK & Ireland and Visit Britain, the project works to promote British ports and the country as a destination brand.
