Garuda to deploy B777s on Asian routes

Garuda Indonesia has revealed that it will fly its brand new fleet of Boeing 777-300ER aircraft to destinations in the Asia Pacific region later this year.
The national carrier received its first B777 in June this year, and currently operates the 314-seat, three-class aircraft on its Jakarta-Jeddah route. But by November 2013, Garuda will take delivery of three more B777s, which it will operate on routes to Sydney, Tokyo and Shanghai.
The airline’s long-awaited Jakarta-London service, which was originally scheduled to get underway in November this year, has been postponed until May 2014.
All the new long-range aircraft will come equipped with eight seats in first class, 38 in business class and 268 in economy, with all passengers being offered in-flight Wi-Fi and live TV from six international channels.
“The delivery of the Boeing 777-300ER sets a new standard of quality and value in air travel, especially for direct, long-haul flights, as we continue to expand our destination network globally,” said Emirsyah Satar, Garuda’s president & CEO. “The delivery of the new Boeing 777-300ER… [is] in line with the airline’s effort to broaden its international flight network, particularly on long-haul flight routes.”
Garuda has ordered a total of 10 B777-300ERs, all of which are expected to be delivered by 2015.
