Cruise & Maritime Voyages (CMV) has announced its first foray into river cruises.
The cruise line will introduce a series of river itineraries on the Rhine and Danube from May 2014 onboard the Vienna 1 ship.
Its launch comes after customer feedback found 80% of its existing passengers would be interested in taking a river cruise, with CMV’s commercial director Chris Coates saying the move was a “natural progression” to its popular European itineraries.
“We are entering the European river cruise market next year chartering the stylish Vienna 1 river ship. This premium plus vessel has been operated by a number of luxury river cruise operators in 2013 offering a high level of comfort and décor with most cabins having French balconies,” said Chris Coates, commercial director at CMV.
“We know that our current cruise programme, that includes many European ports situated on rivers, is already popular. It is therefore a natural progression for CMV to add river cruises to our portfolio,” he added.
The first departure will sail on 19 May with its seven and 14-night itineraries including the likes of Amsterdam, Nuremberg, Budapest and Prague.
CMV will be issuing a stand alone 12-page brochure soon.
