Garuda Indonesia has witnessed healthy forward bookings ahead of its London route launch in May.
Jubi Prasetyo, general manager UK at Garuda Indonesia told Travel Daily the carrier is now working with more than 200 travel agents ahead of the London-Jakarta launch on 29 May and has so far received a good response.
Summer bookings are particularly popular for the carrier, with Jakarta, Bali and Australia the best-selling destinations from the UK market so far.
Prateyo is now looking to develop more partnerships with TMCs and the business travel world through first exhibiting at the Business Travel Show.
“It was important to introduce Garuda to the business market as there are lots of business opportunities between the two countries. Attending BTS is a good start for meeting with agencies and corporates to promote our product,” Prasetyo explained.
Garuda is also gearing up to join SkyTeam on 5 March as the alliance’s second carrier in the south east Asia region along with Vietnam Airlines.
To reach consumers and agents in the UK more effectively the airline has now launched UK-based Facebook and Twitter pages.
Further promotional activity include television advertising to be shown in the UK and a new partnership signed with Liverpool Football Club to promote travel both from fans based in the UK and Indonesia.
