SriLankan Airlines has completed its migration to the Amadeus Altéa technology system.
The IT upgrade forms part of the airline’s integration into the oneworld alliance, and covers SriLankan’s entire operations, including reservations, inventory, ticketing, and departure control systems.
The migration was completed in less than 12 months and included the transfer of more than 250,000 Passenger Name Records (PNRs) and 960,000 eTickets to the Amadeus system.
“The Amadeus Altéa implementation is a critical achievement for us and we are pleased with how it has been carried out,” said Kapila Chandrasena, CEO of SriLankan Airlines. “With our upcoming entry to the oneworld global alliance and our continued investment in new aircraft and expansion of our network, having trusted and reliable technology is key for our future success.”
SriLankan Airlines said it is now “fully compliant and prepared” for its entry into oneworld, which is scheduled to take place in the first half of 2014.
SriLankan Airlines’ also acquired Amadeus Market Information (MIDT), which will provides the airline with global reservation data so it can analyse its network and formulate new route plans based on market demand.
“As we get closer to our induction into the oneworld alliance, it is critical that we base our network planning and marketing decisions on comprehensive, reliable data. We could not have chosen a better partner to enable our transformation and help us stay competitive with other world-class airlines in the region,” Chandrasena added.
