Hilton has unveiled plans to launch its ultra-luxury Waldorf Astoria brand in Bali.
The new management contract with PT Bali Ragawisata will see the development of the 96-villa Waldorf Astoria Bali, located in the Bukit Pandawa area of the island. It will become Indonesia’s first Waldorf Astoria hotel when it opens in 2017.
“Bali, a prominent holiday spot in Asia, is one of the largest tourist destinations for Indonesia, and we are pleased to be working with a reputable partner like PT Bali Ragawisata to showcase our top of the line luxury brand for the first time in this market,” said Andrew Clough, Hilton’s senior vice president of development for the Middle East & Asia Pacific.
Set across 23 hectares of cliff-top land in the far south of Bali, 40 metres above sea-level, the Waldorf Astoria Bali feature a range of villas, ranging from one to six bedrooms. It will also feature two restaurants, a bar, outdoor sea-facing swimming pool, health club, spa and a private beach with beach club.
The resort will also offer a range of MICE facilities, including a large outdoor events lawn, a courtyard and a wedding chapel.
Waldorf Astoria becomes the latest in a series of new luxury resort brands to have announced their entry into the Bali hotel market in recent weeks. Mandarin Oriental recently unveiled plans for a new resort in the Bukit Pandawa area, while Ritz-Carlton’s ultra-high-end Reserve will open in Ubud in 2015.
