Singapore is now connected to Uzbekistan, following the launch of a new service by national carrier, Uzbekistan Airways.
The inaugural flight touched down this week, marking the start of a new twice weekly service from Tashkent. Flights will depart the Uzbek capital every Wednesday and Thursday, while the return leg will depart Changi every Wednesday and Friday.
All flights on the route will be operated using a 247-seat, two-class Boeing 767-300 aircraft, with a stop in Kuala Lumpur.
“We are delighted to welcome Uzbekistan Airways to Changi with its twice weekly service from Tashkent to Singapore,” said Changi Airport Group’s senior vice president of market development, Lim Ching Kiat.
“This marks a significant milestone for Singapore and Changi Airport, as it establishes the first air bridge between Singapore and Central Asia, reaffirming our status as an important air hub linking Central Asia and the Asia Pacific region.”
Uzbekistan Airways becomes the second new carrier to launch flights to Singapore this year, following China’s Lucky Air.
