Kuala-Lumpur based Malindo Air will distribute its air ticket inventory via Amadeus.
The two companies have announced a new distribution agreement, whereby travel agents in Asia Pacific will have immediate access to the same level of Malindo Air fares, availability and functionality as any other travel agency content channel. The airline currently operates in Malaysia along with international operations to Indonesia, Thailand, Bangladesh and India.
“We are a young airline with ambitious plans, and we see the travel agency channel as critical to helping us bring our low fares and value-added services to even more customers. Amadeus’ unrivalled network across the region and worldwide makes them the ideal partner to help us achieve that,” said Chandran Rama Muthy, chief executive officer of Malindo Air.
Talking about the partnership, Angel Gallego, president for Asia Pacific at Amadeus said, “Our partnership with Malindo Air reinforces our commitment to bringing the widest range of low cost air travel options to our travel agency customers in the region. As the demand for affordable travel continues to grow, especially here in Southeast Asia, we remain focused in our efforts to help airlines like Malindo Air tap on this growth via the travel agency network.”
Last month, Malaysia’s AirAsia Group signed an agreement with Travelport to distribute all its fares and ancillary services through Travelport’s Galileo, Apollo and Worldspan GDS system. This deal is applicable to all AirAsia’s regional subsidiaries in Malaysia, Thailand, Indonesia, the Philippines and India, plus AirAsia X in Malaysia and Thailand.
