Asian countries earmarked for promotional activity include China, Hong Kong, Indonesia, Japan, Malaysia, South Korea and Taiwan, while the campaign will also operate further afield in Australia, the UK and US.

“Princess Cruises is proud to be a partner of CAG and STB. We are confident that this collaboration will complement our expansion efforts in Asia and we look forward to developing the regional cruise market through continued investment in our people and resources,” said Jan Swartz, president of Princess Cruises.

The tie-up with Princess follows a similar three-way partnership with Costa Cruises. In September 2012, CAG and STB jointly supported Costa in a multi-million-dollar collaboration. In the first year, the companies reported that 5,000 Asian cruise passengers had entered Singapore through Changi Airport and spent time in Singapore before and after their cruises.

In tandem, CAG has also been teaming up with airlines and travel agents on marketing campaigns to promote fly-cruise packages in such markets as China and India.

“Changi Airport Group welcomes this opportunity to partner STB to grow passenger source markets in Asia,” said Lim Ching Kiat, CAG’s senior vice president of market development. “This second tripartite collaboration with the Carnival Corporation’s group of cruise brands further highlights our synergistic efforts to grow the fly-cruise segment in Singapore.”

CAG and STB said it they would also be happy to partner with other cruise companies if they start sailing from Singapore.

“Cruise lines that are looking to begin or extend sailings out of Singapore will benefit by working with CAG and STB,” they said in a joint statement.

The 2,670-passenger Sapphire Princess cruise liner will operate 16 sailings from Singapore in winter 2014-15.
