Global bed bank lowcostbeds is planning to build its presence in Asia, with the aim of developing “long-term, meaningful, strategic relationships” with partners in the region, according to CEO Paul Evans.
Speaking with Travel Daily at ITB Asia last week, Evans said: “We’re one of the top five bed banks globally, but we’ve been predominantly concentrated on Europe and the USA.
“We’re now focusing on growing in Asia and we’ve had a positive reaction with agents, hotels and suppliers. I’m really excited about the opportunity I’m seeing – this place is alive!”
The company was in Singapore to promote its bed bank platform, which is available in 13 languages and features 240,000 hotels, as a B2B service for local agents.
“We’ve opened Sydney and Bangkok and we’re in the process of building our presence in Asia,” continued Evans.
For the Asian markets, lowcostbeds has been concentrating on its European city offerings, such as Paris, Rome and Helsinki, and Evans has been focused on delivering “slick technology and well-described hotels”. In just one month, January 2014, the company rewrote 25,000 hotel descriptions to refresh the content.
“We’re moving the Singapore office in January and increasing the team so we can offer 24/7 assistance in the agents’ time zones and their language, and so earn their support to develop ourselves,” concluded Evans, “We can build a good business here.”
Lowcostbeds recently announced an 80% surge in international business for the year ending October 2014, with 65% of its two million passenger sales now coming from outside the UK.
